PARTY WOLF/THE “European” Flats…

This is Scott AKA ‘Party Wolf’. If you haven’t partied with this man, you haven’t partied at all. Buy this gentleman a beer if you happen to see him in europe slashing his way with The Flatliners.

Edge 102.1 is constantly playing where I am working unless we’re playing “Party All The Time” by Eddie Murphy.  Barrie Taylor just mentioned that The Flatliners were playing Edgefest and that everyone that listens to good music should see these guys play. After seeing these guys play a show, I would agree to that anyday of the week. Those bastards are touring europe right now.

CONSTANTLY PRACTICING…..

We’re keepin’ busy practicing and writing songs. At the moment, we’re just about done writing and finishing up all our songs for the new full length record. I’ll post the title of the record on here soon enough and the tracklisting.

Duncan plays just as hard whether he’s onstage or practicing. Look as his bass, it’s stained from the blood of his fingers. The man has got soul and fingers of steel. Sorry for the shitty quality photos, it was taken from my camera phone.

NXNE is on it’s way as well as our tour. I am stoked.

5 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE WIFE IS BACK/NXNE/TOUR

Cannot sleep so I must say that there are only 5 more days until my darling wife comes back. I never thought it would be hard but the last couple of days have been killing me. A lot of sleepless nights. Am I a cheesy guy or what?

We just got accepted for North By Northeast! I’m pretty excited for that even thought South By Southwest always have the better bands. I would have loved to do it but we really don’t have the money to trek all the way down to the south of the states………..

Our tour plans for July are falling into place. I’m pretty excited and most of you may not know it but we are going away for 2 weeks to tour. We’re hoping to eperience the whole East Coast of Canada and if everything goes to plan, we’ll be recording our full length record right after the tour and then we’re hoping to tour again in the near future after that. I’ts a bit scary thinking about all the stuff were headed in but I’m also pretty stoked. Head On!

EMBRACE THE PAST, LOOK FORWARD TO THE FUTURE!

JDM has posted a message on his facebook about where he got the name Rubber Factory Records.  I just had to post this on here for a couple of reasons: First, John is quite the gentleman and he hooks us up with online distrubution. Secondly, I’m fucking jealous that there used to be an amazing place to hang out and skate right down the street of my house and I was too young to witness the sheer epicness of it all.

Here’s what he wrote: “

The rubber factory was an old abandoned building that slowly morphed into a community center for dirtpile kids, punks, local skaters. Over time, the inside debris was cleaned out and deadly a steel plated wallrider was built. Also acquired over time were an 8 foot roll in, ibeams, manual pad of doom, concrete ledge, and the notorious ‘fun’ box (seen inside the bottle of smoke cd). there was a secret room with picnic tables and BT bottles, and a creepy dark basement. The back side of the factory had a very smooth 2 platform street course with decent ‘lil ledge, shanty flatbanks, and a series of mini gaps, complete with anti-racist graffiti, all beside a broken cinder block wasteland. The Rubber was nicknamed danger bay by out of towners.

The rubber factory had its own security system of a truck tire on a long swing rope that would pummel trespassers off the small platform door..it actually worked once as the pigs went for the front door giving time for the kids to get out one of the many exits. There were bottle kids playing glass games and teenagers playing glass feet. Young Todd smoked his first cigarette and fell down like drunk on a bubba, Seamus McGhilliger’s broken board was held together by a two by four, Nice Jay might have be playing guitar by the river. With a historical hillside war memorial at the banks of the Humber river, in the small town of old Wood-a-bridge, the factory had a fun run.

Forseeing the end of its days, it was burned down (again) by those who loved it. Currently in it’s place stands expensive condominiums for the children of local suburban residents who still want to stay close to home. While the area is becoming quite the hipster spot as generations pass and the suburban city sprawls out of control, rubber factory records stands by friendships made around the rubber and continued by the love of music, skateboarding, and other quality time.
Bottle of Smoke is the first project, then cane the Woodbridge Legion comp and most notably the Leatherface Tribute.

Please amend this account of the Factory with any information or stories you may have. Nostalgia is healthy in small doses. I’m very happy to still see most of you in the day to day, month to month. If love is the meat of life, then friends are the sweet protein rich bloody juices dripping out of it.”

The man has just released a Leatherface tribute album and you can buy it at rubberfactoryrecords.com

ROWLEY THE HUNSTMAN

Though he’s internationally known as a leading concrete commando, Geoff Rowley has an equally rabid passion for what lies beyond the paved world. Learning body jars in the morning and tracking animals by night.  He serves the same love for the lions as much as I do.  He’s living the dream. This man is fucking legend.

This is my girlfriend Alessia. She’s in Italy at the moment and she’s staying at Lake Como.  I was just talking to her on the phone and she tells me where she’s staying overlooks over the Alps. She’s a lake across Switzerland. Look at her, How can I not miss that?

SPONSORSHIP……

My good friend and brother from Crookedhook just got signed to Eastwood Guitars. Here’s what he wrote:
“I recently got sponsored by Eastwood Guitars. It’s a pretty huge deal for me since I have spent the majority of my youth in a room with a bass guitar. There is a bit of info on exactly what I do and also a Q & A on their website.  Cool stuff, check it out!”
-Dave.
I couldn’t be happier for the man. Stake your claim Dave.
